General questions about the hotel
- Are pets allowed?,
No, pets are NOT allowed.
We ourselves love animals, and our petting zoo is our personal passion. However, many guests and children are afraid of dogs or have allergic reactions to them. Unfortunately, in the past we have had dog owners who allowed their animals to sleep in the beds where children slept shortly afterwards. As we have had several complaints about this, we have decided to no longer accommodate dogs. We ask for your understanding that pets and children do not always get along in confined spaces.
- What are the cancellation terms?
Cancellation policy
The right of withdrawal pursuant to Section 18(1)(10) of the Austrian Distance Selling Act (FAGG) does not apply; instead, the General Terms and Conditions for the Hotel Industry (AGBH 2006) apply. There are no cancellation fees up to 3 months before departure. From 3 months to 29 days before departure, we charge 3 days' holiday, from the 28th day 80% of the total cost, and from the 7th day before arrival, in the event of late arrival or early departure, 100%. In the event of cancellation, we also charge a processing fee of €25.Please note: We expressly point out that we will charge cancellation fees without exception. We therefore strongly recommend that you take out cancellation insurance or check with your insurance company or credit card provider to see whether you already have valid insurance cover that would apply in the event of cancellation.
Cancellation protection
It is not uncommon for things to turn out differently than expected and for a booked holiday to have to be cancelled or cut short. We would like to spare you the associated costs and hassle. We therefore recommend taking out hotel cancellation insurance with Europäische Reiseversicherung.We recommend taking out Hotel Cancellation Plus insurance (including helicopter rescue). This includes, among other things:
Unexpected illness
Physical injury
Pregnancy and pregnancy complications
Significant property damage at your place of residence
Accident, mountain rescue, search and rescue costs
Please note that claims must always be settled DIRECTLY with the insurance company and not through us (data protection). In the event of cancellation, you pay the cancellation fee to us and you will then be compensated by the insurance company. However, we are happy to help you fill out the forms at any time.
- Are you a strictly non smoking-hotel?
Yes!
Our premises inside the hotel are strictly non-smoking areas. We also do NOT tolerate smoking from open windows in the rooms, etc., as we want to offer future guests a completely smoke-free room. We have ashtrays at the front and rear entrances, where smoking is permitted. We do not prohibit smoking on our terrace, but we ask you to be considerate of other (non-smoking) families on the terrace. The same applies to our balconies.
- Are guests without children also welcome?
Of course :) We are happy to welcome guests without children, but would like to point out that most of our guests arrive with children and that things can therefore sometimes get a little lively. However, we have already received positive feedback from many guests without children.
- Is there a minimum stay of one week?
No.
In principle, we only accept guests for a minimum of 6 nights during the main season, as our entire programme is designed for a week-long holiday. But we never say never! If there are gaps due to longer bookings, etc., we will of course accept you for fewer nights.
Important: To fully enjoy our offer, we definitely recommend staying for a week. Then you can take part in the complete children's programme, visit Donki, our activity programme and all other highlights. Please note that we do not offer childcare at weekends.
- Is the hotel located in a calm area?
We are located in the centre of the village of Haus im Ennstal, which has around 1,000 inhabitants. Our hotel is situated directly on Marktstraße, which runs through the village, and is close to the main road, making it centrally located in the region – perfect for an adventure holiday.
Both roads have very little traffic at night, mopeds are prohibited in the village from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and lorries are not allowed on the main road at night. Nevertheless, we cannot guarantee complete peace and quiet, which you might find in a secluded side valley.
Please bear this in mind when booking if complete peace and quiet is important to you. - What is the difference between your house and big children's hotels?
We focus on the essentials. Large hotels often offer EVERYTHING. We don't always offer EVERYTHING. But we offer everything you really need. This is naturally reflected in our prices. We don't offer full board around the clock, nor do we cater to all age groups throughout the year. However, countless guests have confirmed to us over the last few years that we offer everything your heart desires and everything a family needs. And all this at an unbeatable price-performance ratio.
- How big is the hotel? Are there short ways in the house?
Our hotel is small and charming. It has 24 accommodation units for families spread over three floors, a restaurant on the ground floor, as well as a kids' club, and a basement (not underground) with an indoor swimming pool, wellness area and teen room. So, as you can see, everything is within easy reach and no matter where you stay, you are never far from each other.
- For which guest group is the house not reccomended?
Adults seeking peace and quiet without children or those purely interested in wellness holidays are probably better off elsewhere than with us. We offer plenty of action for kids and parents – if they want it. Otherwise, parents will also find plenty of time to relax while their children are being entertained.
We are happy to welcome adults without children, but you should be aware that there will always be children in the house.
- Is there a minimum stay?
Yes. During the holidays, we only accept guests for a minimum of 6 or 7 nights. Please note: there are always gaps due to 10-day bookings, in which case a booking is of course also possible for short breaks. These gaps are listed in our last-minute deals section.
Outside of the holidays, short breaks are generally also possible, but for stays of less than 3 nights a short break surcharge is added to the price.
- What age group is the hotel suitable for?
Families with children up to around 10 years of age are in good hands with us. We also look after teenagers during the holidays, but the majority of teenagers at the hotel are more like kids who have outgrown childcare but still come back. We are not a classic teen hotel.
- Is the hotel also suitable for single parents?
Yes, we even have several rooms that are specially designed for single mothers, fathers or, of course, aunts, uncles, grandmothers or grandfathers with children. Our single rooms can be converted into a very comfortable double bed, which is an affordable option for single children. The double room with dormer window and our standard double rooms are also well suited for single parents.
- Is the hotel suitable for families with three or more children?
Yes, we can accommodate three children in comfortable beds in all 2-room suites. For four children, we can find solutions in combination with the single rooms. Please feel free to enquire and we will see what we can do.
- What do loyal guests particularly appreciate?
We hear it time and time again: the family atmosphere, the manageable size of the hotel and, above all, the friendliness of the family and team are the most important reasons why our guests come back. In addition, of course, there is our top-notch childcare. In summer, it is above all our large garden and the opportunity for children to move around freely and the many excursion possibilities in the region.
In winter, it's the prime location close to the Schladming ski area with our local mountain, Hauser Kaibling, and the great children's ski school in the village.
Questions about included services
- What is included in the price?
Our price always includes half board, unless you have expressly booked bed and breakfast only. Half board consists of a generous breakfast buffet in the morning and a 5-course menu in the evening. Drinks for adults are NOT included in the price, but drinks for children from the children's juice bar are.
In summer, the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card is ALWAYS included in the price, which offers a wide range of excursion options.
- What equipment is provided for our children?
Children up to three years of age are automatically provided with a cot with baby bedding, a changing table or changing mat, a nappy bin and a kettle in their room. On request, we can also provide you with a safety guard, bottle warmer, seat reducer and potty.
In the dining rooms, we provide high chairs for children up to 3 years of age and Triptrap chairs for children aged 3 to 4 years.
We also have several Strollers available for hire for children aged 1 year and above, as well as baby carriers and, in winter, sledges.
- Does every guest get the "SummerCard"?
Yes, everyone in summer.
During the summer season, all guests, regardless of whether they are staying for one night or several nights, can enjoy the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card and thus use all mountain railways, toll roads, swimming pools, bathing lakes and much more free of charge and enjoy discounts at many other partners.
Please note:
* We will send you the Summer Card digitally to your mobile phone.
* Your Summer Card can only be used from 1 p.m. on the day of arrival.
* On the day of departure, it is valid for the whole day.
* The Dachstein is only included in the Summer Card for stays of at least 3 nights.
- Do you also look after children under the age of 3?
First of all, children of all ages are always welcome here.
We generally look after children aged 3 and above and offer a fantastic programme for kids aged 3 to 16.
We only look after children aged 1 to 2.99 in January, March, June, September and October OUTSIDE of the school holidays. You can find all the details under the heading Childcare. - Are Early-Check-Ins or Late-Check-Outs possible?
Early check-in: In principle, your rooms will be ready for you from 3 p.m. However, if you arrive earlier and your room is already ready, you are of course welcome to check in earlier. You are welcome to stay on the hotel premises earlier, regardless of your room.
Late check-out: We kindly ask you to vacate your room by 10:30 a.m. You are welcome to stay at the hotel until the afternoon and use all hotel facilities (Donki Club, garden, indoor pool, etc.). Keeping the room longer is only possible on request (for a fee).
- How can I pay?
You can pay your room bill with us using an EC card (bank card via SEPA direct debit), credit card (Mastercard or Visa) or cash. We do not accept American Express.
You are also welcome to pay your bill by bank transfer (free of charge within the EU). We accept transfers if the amount is in our account by the date of departure. Please place the transfer order up to three days before departure. We will be happy to send you the outstanding invoice amount on request.
For the transfer you will need:

Catering and allergies
- How do you deal with food allergies/intolerances/vegans?
Our chefs are trained in all types of allergies and are happy to prepare special menus for guests with allergies. Please let us know about your allergy when you make your booking so that our kitchen can make the necessary preparations in advance.
Vegetarian/vegan: We always offer a vegetarian alternative to our menu, but not a vegan one. Some dishes can be prepared vegan on request, but it is not possible to offer a completely vegan menu.
Breakfast: We are happy to offer gluten-free alternatives, oat milk or almond milk at the breakfast buffet. We are happy to provide gluten-free pastries (freshly baked by Resch&Frisch).
Taste restrictions: Please understand that, although we will do our best to create a menu that suits your needs for health reasons, we cannot do so for taste reasons. If there is something you do not like, please simply leave it out.
- Do you also offer baby food?
No, as we are not a baby hotel. We specialise in looking after and catering for children aged 1 to 14. We therefore do not provide baby food or similar items. However, there is a parents' kitchen in the basement available 24 hours a day, where you can heat up your own baby food or cook for yourself at any time.
- Are drinks for adults inclusive?
No! We offer half board, not all-inclusive. Our bar and drink prices are very reasonable compared to other establishments in the region.
Please note that all-inclusive is always included in the price and that our half-board offer allows us to provide you with a tailor-made package according to your personal needs.For children, there is a free juice bar with three natural juices and tap water available throughout the day.
- Do you also offer all-inclusive or packed lunches?
No. There is so much to discover in our region and so many beautiful alpine huts, ski lodges and excursion destinations where you can really indulge yourself with culinary delights. The decision not to be a classic all-inclusive hotel is therefore a conscious one. We are delighted when our guests actively experience the region, and that includes the region's culinary offerings. Guests who do happen to be at the hotel for lunch can choose from a few selected dishes on our small snack menu. If you are leaving early on the day of departure and will not be having breakfast, we will be happy to provide you with a packed lunch.
- Are there children's buffets or children's meals?
Yes. For our youngest guests, a self-service children's menu is available seven evenings a week at our buffet area. If there is nothing on the menu that appeals to the children, they can also choose children's portions from the adult menu at any time.
- Are there flexible meal times?
Our meal times are as follows.
Breakfast: Regularly from 7:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. For early risers, we also offer an early breakfast from 7:00 a.m., including coffee, bread rolls and muesli. Egg dishes and the rest of the full breakfast menu are available from 7:30 a.m.
Lunch: Children are also provided with lunch from Monday to Friday as part of the childcare service. On weekends and for adults, there is a small snack menu with toast, sausages, soups, etc. between 12:00 and 13:00 every day. Not included in the price
Dinner: 17:30 to 19:30 – we kindly ask you to arrive in the dining room by 19:00 at the latest.
- Can baby food be heated up?
Of course. We have a separate kitchen for parents, and we are happy to warm up the jars for you in our kitchen. Just ask the service staff.
- Are there High chairs for babies?
Yes, we automatically provide high chairs for all children under the age of 2, and children aged 3 and 4 are given Trip-Traps. Babies under 8 months old can be provided with a baby bouncer on request. We also provide bibs free of charge in the restaurant.
Questions about childcare
- Can external guests also use your childcare services?
No, you cannot.
Our guests have exclusive rights to our childcare staff, and we do not offer external babysitting services. However, we would be delighted if you were to become our guest next time, so that your children can also benefit from our childcare services.
- Do you offer childcare on weekends?
NO! We do not offer childcare at weekends. Why not?
Many of our guests praise our excellent value for money compared to other children's hotels. However, this is only possible with certain compromises, one of which is that we only look after and entertain children from Monday to Friday. We kindly ask you to take this into account when booking.
- Do you have anything for older children as well?
But of course :) Our programme is always tailored precisely to the age of the children present. If there are lots of older children here due to the holidays, the entire programme is also designed for older children. There are also separate programme items for teenagers aged 10 and above. Our Donki Club team comes up with ideas for the programme and always adapts it individually to the needs of the age groups. With us, you won't find a programme for the masses, but highlights especially for your children!
However, we are not a proper teen hotel.
- Do you pick up the kids from the ski school?
There are two answers to this question:
If the children are attending the Minikids ski course directly at the valley station with course times from 10:00 to 12:00, YES, we will pick them up. However, this usually only applies to children aged 3 to 3.99 years.
If the children are already in the correct ski course for ages 4 and up, NO, we CANNOT pick up the children. Not even if they are only in the half-day ski course. This is not possible for us for logistical reasons, as the children have to be picked up at different locations and at different times. We recommend the ski school's lunchtime supervision. The head of the ski school will provide you with detailed information about this at the hotel every Saturday at 5 p.m.
- We do not require assistance. Does this affect the price?
No. Our children's prices are fixed prices and we do not want to make any distinctions on site as to who is allowed to participate in the programme and who is not. During the summer and winter high seasons (season A in each case), we do not offer childcare for children under the age of 3; during these periods, they are charged at a reduced rate (please note the minimum prices in the 2-room rooms). Otherwise, there are no exceptions for children's prices.
And who knows, many children have enjoyed participating in the programme and given their parents a few hours of relaxation :-)
- From what age is childcare available?
During the holidays from 3 years of age, outside the holidays from 1 year of age.
- Is childcare included in the price?
Yes. We do not differentiate between guests who book with or without childcare; childcare is always included depending on the offer and holiday season.
- Is childcare also available in the evening?
During the holidays, there are four evening programmes, and outside of the holidays, there are two evening programmes. Please note that in the evening, there is ‘only’ a programme, but the children are no longer under constant supervision and are therefore allowed to leave the Donki Club at any time.
- What training do the carers have?
Our carers are highly trained educators with extensive experience in creative fields. Our team includes a theatre educator, an outdoor educator and a dance educator.
Don't worry: we don't run a strict regime like a nursery or school. Children are allowed to enjoy their holidays and have fun, but they are still looked after professionally.
Questions concerning winter time
- What is the distance between the hotel an the ski resort?
3 minutes by bus.
We are practically in the centre and only one kilometre away from the large Hauser Kaibling valley station. A ski bus takes you to the lift and back again at regular intervals during peak times. For the return journey, there is also a connecting route that you can take on your skis all the way back to the village.
- Is it possible to buy ski tickets at the hotel?
Yes! We are happy to print ski passes for you, starting from a day pass. Half-day passes, morning passes, etc. are not available for purchase from us. However, all multi-day passes are available from us.
Tip: If you buy your ski passes online in advance, you can save money!
- What is the distance between the hotel and the gondola station?
The Hauser Kaibling gondola can be reached in 3 minutes by bus, the Planai in 10 minutes. You can also return from the Hauser Kaibling ski mountain via the ski trail, which leads directly to the village of Haus. From here, it is only a few minutes' walk back to the hotel.
- Are there any discounts provided for skipasses?
You can get the cheapest ski pass rates by ordering them online in advance. As a hotel, we cannot offer you any discounts on ski passes, but ask about our ski packages in January, March and April, as these are often cheaper than the standard rate.
- Is the hotel suitable for a first skiing holiday?
Yes, we work very closely with the local ski school, which offers ski lessons for children aged 3 and above. In order to provide all our guests with the best possible advice, the head of the ski school visits our hotel every Saturday at 5 p.m. He can answer all your questions and you can book your ski lessons directly.
- Where is the training ground located?
Right next to the valley station is Wollis Kidsland with free practice lifts, as well as a platter lift and magic carpet (also free for children up to 6 years old). Here you can get your first taste of snow.
- Is there a ski cellar with boot dryers?
Yes, we have a large ski cellar right next to the rear exit of the hotel where you can store your boots and skis. Ski boots are dried. Alternatively, there is a large ski storage facility available at the Hauser Kaibling valley station (for a fee).
- Is childcare also available during the skiing season?
Yes, that's exactly how it's meant to be. Children under the age of 3 are well looked after while their parents enjoy skiing, children aged 3 and above can attend the mini kids' ski course at the valley station and we pick them up at lunchtime. Children aged 4 and above are usually already in the beginners' ski course and stay on the mountain until 2.30 p.m. We do not pick them up.
Questions concerning summer
- We are a fairly active family. What activities can we do at your place?
As an active, adventurous family, you've come to the right place. In summer, we offer lots of guided and supervised excursions for the whole family, and you can enjoy your holiday with many other active families, who you may well leave behind as new friends at the end of your stay.
In winter, we are located in the middle of the Schladming 4-mountain ski area, making us the perfect host for your skiing holiday. - Is it possible to borrow bikes and e-bikes at the hotel?
Yes, normal mountain bikes are available at the hotel.
We have a selection of mountain bikes for adults, which are available free of charge. In addition, the sports shops in our area rents out top-of-the-range e-bikes and mountain bikes. You are also welcome to store your own bikes in our bike container. To ensure we have bikes in the right sizes for your children, please bring them with you.
- Is the hotel a good starting point for hiking?
We would say: it couldn't be better. Our central location in the Schladming-Dachstein region is the ideal starting point for hikes and excursions of all kinds. The hiking bus to Schladming or the Styrian Lake Constance also stops right in front of the hotel.
- Which destinations are suitable for children?
Our top destinations with children:
* Planai with Hopsiland
* Hauser Kaibling with petting zoo and adventure trail
* Reiteralm with nappy trail
* Rittisberg with fairy tale trail
* The Dachstein with suspension bridge and stairway to nowhere (not suitable for children under 3 years of age)
- Is the Summer Card included in the price?
Yes, all our guests from mid-May to early November receive the Schladming-Dachstein Summer Card without exception. This is included in the price.
- Are there alternative activities, when the wheather is bad?
Our philosophy: There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing. That's why we go ahead with almost all excursions in any weather (except severe storms). There is also a rubber boot rental station in the hiking cellar, so if you don't have boots, you can pick some up here (children's boots up to approx. size 34). Also suitable in bad weather:
* Bad Aussee Salt Mine
* Hallstatt Salt Mine
* Hallein Ice Cave
* Werfen Castle
* Trautenfels Castle
* Schladming Water Park
* Ramsau Water Park
* Amadé Thermal Spa
* Grimming Thermal Spa
Questions about wellness and indoor pool
- Are there pools for kids?
Our indoor hotel pool with its own family sauna awaits children. This sauna is used as a textile sauna. For hygienic reasons, we do not have a separate children's pool. The indoor pool has the maximum permitted temperature for a commercial indoor pool without a lifeguard of 30°C. Water depth 1.20 to 1.70 metres.
In summer, there is also a large outdoor pool, just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, which our guests can use free of charge. Here there is also a large children's paddling area, slides, a shallow non-swimmer area and small diving platforms.
Tip for summer and winter: the water parks in Schladming and Ramsau and the Amadé thermal spa in Alternmarkt are always worth a visit. - What wellness facilities await adults?
For adults, we have our own spa area with three saunas (Finnish sauna, herbal steam bath, infrared cabin) as well as a large relaxation room and direct access to the garden. Only adults and children aged 12 and over are permitted in this area. Clothing is not required.
The children's sauna in the indoor pool is designed for the whole family. Please wear swimwear.
Opening hours
Indoor pool: 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., family sauna 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Wellness area for adults: 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., every Wednesday long sauna night until 09:30 p.m.
